Avocado - Peter Farrah (Splitrec # 28 / 2015)
(title track 15:25) After a short and uneasy establishing field acoustic / dirty waiting room ambience, the job starts - an ostinato with the ominous delivery and tone of a solitary meat grinder in an outer suburban temp butchery - around 10 mins in, a complex blues like phrasing emerges from the human machinery defiantly, before getting on with the job - separating the meat from the bones twice as fast, making up for lost time- as there are not many melodic comfort zones or safe spaces in the work it completely succeeds intentionally (or not) as an un/prepared saxophonic impression of industrial noise and the brutalization of the individual human story where prominent significations for a potentially approved activity lead to more questions of placement and time for repeat listening and reinterpretation.

Some people like to talk shxt about HD-280’s – but even at 46% vol this unrelenting visceral lxving txrment is still enough to to take yr head clean off with 17 minutes of particle collision as difficult to transcribe adequately as it is to scream to…. wear a hard hat– like getting dumped by a dry ocean wave or hit by a prairie tornado – around 13 mins there is a brief pause in the skirmishing as heavier weapons are loaded for the final assault of mutually assured self destruction. around 14:20 you can hear that Fusinato is playing a guitar just as the door squeaks escape and then some post annihilation thump core. a dynamic and violent force of nature throughout.

you can tell by the seagulls that the recording hasn't been slowed down.... also an excellent example of woodwind music that is presumably impossible to archive as notation, the mysteriously produced stacked notes around 11mins and the sine like tones around 12 mins almost sounds as if there is some kind of electronic assistance, but it is simply 'organ pipes laid down by a beachside dock' which produces an endless array of long droning notes- compositionally, it leaves the mind free to wander around the nice warm space it creates
